This one has it all for the true collector!
One of the major plusses of this car is the amazing well sorted out history file.
It all started in Hamburg Germany.
The Porsche dealer Raffay exported the light blue 356 to a grey market dealer in California. This was very common in those days due shortage of stock in US. The European heating system is still in place. The rear reflectors are below the bumper instead of the USA specs above the the tail lights. The speedometer en lights where changed for US versions. The first owner lived in Manhattan beach and sold in 1971 to a woman who kept it until 2020. When she bought it she had a short list of all the advertised 356s in California. She bought this one for the amount of $3500. The whole story is documented and comes with the car.
Condition
Body and paint
The preservation of the body is amazing. All original panels. Never welded and beside a spot under the battery rust free.
The gaps are like they came out of the factory.
Paint
The car was partial repainted in its 60 years life. Some parts are still original paint! The paint has some patina but is still very nice. We sanded and polished the the whole car and it’s really a head turner.
Interior
The interior is mostly original. The carpet is worn out but please leave it like that. The rubber mat was completely fallen apart so we placed a new one.
The headliner is still the first.
Seats seems redone once in the years. But certainly done decades ago. Maybe we will find a receipt in the massive history file.
Technical
This 356 was used where it was made for. Driving. Not just around the block but long distance trips. Lots of the trips are documented in the famous little US note books. This car has traveled around 400.000Km in its life!
The matching numbers engine was at least once rebuilt in 1982 and always well serviced. Lots of records approve that.
The engine runs very well. No smoking.
We serviced it because the car was parked for a while. All the engine tin is still in its original paint. We keep it like that!
Gearbox
Also the gearbox is matching. Shifts smooth in every gear and makes no excessive noises. Needs nothing.
Wheels
4 original chrome wheels are on the car. Very nice chrome. Tires are from 2019.
This 356 comes with:
- Matching Numbers
- Never restored
- Lovely rare color combination
- Amazing history file
- Partial original paint
- Emailblau 6403K
- Kunstleder Reh Braun
