Steel Grey metallic & Coffee interior, could it be even better?
This Sovereign in the brilliant color Steel Grey Metallic simply has it; An interior and exterior in good condition, a well maintained undercarriage, everything really exudes quality. Add to this the extensive maintenance in the past and you have a very interesting X300. Absolutely worth the investment, there is no doubt about it.
You may have noticed; a few years ago I sold this XJ to Joop within 3 hours. When he and his partner saw the Steel Gray X300 they immediately fell in love! A phone call followed, the XJ was delivered. After a few years it is time for a new chapter, and this makes this unique XJ6 available again!
Originally, the Sovereign was delivered new in the Netherlands and has since only covered 192.470km. Special, because given the high quality of the X300 series, most models have mileage far above two and a half or even three hundred thousand kilometers.
The XJ has a non-common color; Steel Grey Metallic. The interior is made of beautiful Coffee leather, with a beautiful contrasting trim. Beautiful but also quite unique. Of course you will find burr walnut in abundance. A beautiful wooden steering wheel in top condition and the wooden shift knob make it complete.
The engine is the reliable 3239CC six-in-line. The handling is particularly good; no strange noises or clearances noticeable. The air conditioning does its job, the heater is functioning properly.
The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and the suspension feels solid. A ‘singing’ differential is a well-known ailment of the X300 Jaguars and Daimlers. The differential of this Jaguar is silent, inaudible.
Two years ago, an extensive renovation of the cylinder head is carried out. The past two years the Jaguar is also maintained as it should be, totally ready for a new enthusiastic owner.
For its time you naturally find a lot of luxury in the Jaguar. This is equipped with an electrically operated and tilting sliding roof, electrically operated seats with memory function for the driver, Climate Control and a Jaguar radio with CD changer. Less obvious are, for example, the electrically height-adjustable steering wheel. Even the headrests are electrically adjustable.
No rust is visible under the rear window arches. The chrome work on both bumpers, which is becoming scarce these days, is also in nice condition. The original Jaguar wheels look neat and the Sovereign stands on four good-quality Goodyear tires.
An X300 is often seen as Jaguars’ most reliable XJ. Due to the relatively short production period, the model is now also becoming scarce; a good copy is increasingly difficult to find. It goes without saying that an X300 is a good investment in this condition.
The Sovereign is delivered with a brand new MOT, valid until June 2025. The service folder is of course available, complete with a fully completed maintenance booklet.
Is there really not a single minus point left? Okay, just a few points: the digital clock is not readable, a standard ailment. Of course we can remedy this for the critical buyer at an additional cost. Then there is a small spot at the rear bumper that is not nicely repainted. A total repaint of the rear bumper would fix it.
There is still much to say about this XJ, but of course you only get a good picture when you look at the car and drive. You are very welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
